- Graduation Schedule: Information is available at vmi.edu/graduation for upcoming events celebrating the achievements of the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Class of 2025. Families and friends are encouraged to note arrival times, locations, and policies for events before heading to post.
- Summer Session at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø: Registration for Summer Session I is closing soon, May 15. All registrations and fees are due by noon.
- Did you know? The ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Summer Transition Program (STP) is designed to enhance the academic and physical fitness of incoming cadets before they officially matriculate in August. If you’ve committed to joining ²ÝÁñÉçÇø, this program is for you! Appointed students who have completed both their Reservation & Medical Requirements should check their emails for a registration link.
- Matriculation 2025: ²ÝÁñÉçÇø has updated information for matriculants headed to Lexington this August to start their leadership journeys. Appointed students and their families are encouraged to review the information available at vmi.edu/matriculation as well as communications sent via email to ensure a smooth first day on post.

Updates to the tour will be ongoing as ²ÝÁñÉçÇø continues to expand and improve facilities. Additional highlights of academic spaces and a look into barracks, the Aquatic Center, and Cameron Hall are planned for launch 2025-2026.

Cadets to Study in Taiwan
Two ²ÝÁñÉçÇø cadets, Josiah Farrell ’28 and Anderson Robles-Rodriguez ’28 have been awarded Gilman Scholarships for study abroad this summer. Both will participate in the Taiwan Huayu BEST Program and study Mandarin Chinese at the National Chengchi University in Taipei.
²ÝÁñÉçÇø Board of Visitors Approves 2025-2026 Tuition and Fees, New Officers
In a strong show of commitment to affordability and educational excellence the ²ÝÁñÉçÇø Board of Visitors approved tuition and fees for the 2025-2026 academic year at their spring meeting held May 1-3.
²ÝÁñÉçÇø English Instructor and Poet Laureate Featured on Podcast
Dr. Mattie Quesenberry Smith, instructor in the Department of English, Rhetoric and Humanistic Studies at ²ÝÁñÉçÇø and the Commonwealth of Virginia’s poet laureate, is featured on episode 28 of “The Laureate Project,” a podcast launched by Emmy-nominated journalist, Matt Hoisch.
Speakers for May Ceremonies Announced
Lt. Gen. Karl Gingrich, deputy chief of staff in the U.S. Army, will address cadets at the joint commissioning ceremony. Retired Air Force Gen. Darren W. McDew ’82, former commander of the U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, will speak at commencement.
